Accident Investigation Leadership:

• Leads and coordinates investigations into accidents and serious incidents within the transportation sector, including aircraft, airports, and related entities.
• Ensures a systematic and comprehensive approach to accident investigation, adhering to established protocols and methodologies.

Data Collection and Analysis:

• Collects and analyzes factual information, data, and evidence to determine the causes and contributing factors of accidents.
• Utilizes relevant methodologies and techniques to identify safety deficiencies and hazards, facilitating a thorough understanding of accident dynamics.

Report Development:

• Develops detailed reports with factual findings and safety recommendations based on the outcomes of investigations.
• Presents findings in a clear, concise manner, supporting evidence-based decision-making and corrective action implementation.

Collaboration and Information Sharing:

• Collaborates with other national and international investigative bodies to share information, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Engages in post-mortem analysis to identify systemic issues and promote continuous improvement in aviation safety.

Safety Recommendation Monitoring:

• Monitors the implementation of safety recommendations issued as a result of accident investigations, assessing their effectiveness in mitigating identified risks.
• Provides feedback and guidance to stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate corrective actions are taken.

Additional Duties:

• Undertakes any other duties as assigned by the Director-General/CEO, contributing to the ongoing improvement and effectiveness of transport investigation processes within the NSIB.
