About

Funke Adebayo-Arowojobe is a Chartered Insurance and Risk Management Professional with a career spanning two and a half decades in the field. She held several managerial positions in various companies within the Insurance Industry like NEM Insurance Plc, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc, Old Mutual West Africa and Standard Alliance Insurance Plc.

After leaving the mainstream, she became the Principal Consultant and Director of Dutee Insurance Brokers and Risk Consultants Limited, a company registered in Nigeria to provide professional and technical risk and insurance management consultancy services to different sectors of the economy, a position she held until her appointment to the public service as the Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, also under the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

A few years later, she was redeployed to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) as the Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance where she oversees the Public Affairs, Family Assistance and SERVICOM units and is responsible for most external relations engagements.

Her core strengths include Strategy development and Implementation, Risk advisory, Insurance portfolio management, Brand marketing and Sales operations, Strategic Business Communications, Retail business management, Business development, Customer strategy and Corporate assurance. Using her versatile skills and inclusive leadership style, she has had a proven track record in effective business administration and sales transformation, all through her career.

A specialist in business turnaround and sustainability, she has served in advisory capacity and/or as a consultant to a number of organisations in the Insurance, Agricultural, Oil and gas, Transport and SME (small business) spaces in the private sector and government organisations alike. Most recently, she was the consultant on risk and insurance management to AMNI International Petroleum oil and gas Company Ltd where she and her team were solely responsible for overseeing the corporate risk management programme of the company, played a major advisory role on compliance and interacted as a liaison between the organisation and NNPC/NAPPIMS on the joint venture oil and gas asset.

She is the immediate past National Vice President (Chapters) of the Women In Energy Oil and Gas (WEOG), a member of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA), a member of the African Insurance Women's Association (AIWA), a Member of Women In Business (WIMBIZ), The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and a host of other Professional bodies.

She is a Fellow of The Nigerian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered), an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Insurance UK, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Risk Management Nigeria, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Administrators of Nigeria, Member Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Nigeria and Member Chartered Institute of Directors.

She has an MBA from the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, a PGD from the West African Insurance Institute the Gambia, a BSc degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan Nigeria, and is currently studying an MSc in Risk Management at the University of Buckingham United Kingdom. She has undergone several trainings locally and abroad, including the Lagos Business School EDC CEM 52, the National Institute of Policy Planning and Strategic Studies SLEAPM 8, and is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School, and Oxford Saïd Business School.

Fondly called Mrs A. by most of her colleagues and friends, she enjoys meeting people, travelling, cooking, reading, fitness, yoga and golf.
